Central
Otago Rail Trail
This is the former
Otago Central Branch Railway line. It is a public reserve and can be
walked, cycled or ridden on
horseback in either direction. The trail was opened in February 2000
and is now one of New Zealand's favourite
and most unique tourism features. It winds through some of the most
spectacular country in the South Island
and includes 60 bridges and 3 tunnels.
We collect
our guests when they come off the trail at Lauder and return them in
the morning for the
next leg of the journey. We encourage guests to consider staying 2
nights to allow time to experience Lauderdale.
